Step 5: Once you feel your upper body weight is settled "just right" into the pelvic cavity, draw your chin in and pull the back of your head up towards the ceiling. This will cause the curve in your spine from your buttocks to the head to be straighter than normal. DO NOT just tilt your head back — instead, imagine that you are keeping your buttocks tilted in as an "anchor" for your spine, and that you are pulling and straightening the spine from the "other end" with your head. This position will help you place your upper body so it will be supported by your spine instead of by the back muscles. This will, in turn, keep the muscles relaxed, allowing most of the upper body weight to drop down to the pelvic cavity. (Fig. 4)
